Women Are More Susceptible To Bladder Infections.

A bladder infection also known as cystitis, and as a UTI (urinary tract infection) is one of the most common ailments afflicting women. Almost half of all women have a bladder infection at some point in their lives, and about 20 percent of them repeatedly. Some women have anatomical conditions that predispose them to urinary tract infections.

A bladder infection occurs when bacteria, usually from the bowel, travel the short distance to the urethra and into the bladder. Once there, the bacteria multiply and become an infection that you notice when you feel the frequent urge to urinate. This symptom will also be accompanied by pain and or burning when you urinate, blood in your urine.

Women are more vulnerable to cystitis than men because the anus is so close to the urethra, making it easy for bacteria to reach the bladder. It's important for women to wipe from front to back after a bowel movement. This keeps bacteria farther away from the urethra. (Use wet wipes from front to back if you are at home too).

It's important to avoid feminine hygiene sprays, douching, and bubble baths. Sorry gals but tight jeans are out if you get frequent UTIs, if you don't then wear them if you like.

Causes
There are a number of causes of chronic bladder infections including poor hygiene, infrequent urination, and vigorous intercourse.

Recent studies show that people who didn't urinate frequently were more prone to get bladder infections. Avoid "holding" urine for a long period of time after you have the urge to go. If you do you'll be more likely to develop a bladder infection as opposed to the woman who goes immediately when she feels the urge.

Of course if you want to void frequently, you should drink plenty of fluids, especially water. Frequent emptying of the bladder flushes it of bacteria. So be sure to drink about eight eight-ounce glasses of water a day.

I'm sure you've heard that cranberry juice is a good cure for a UTI. Cranberry juice works not because it makes your urine more acidic, but because the juice contains a substance that makes it difficult for the bacteria to adhere to the lining of the urethra and bladder.

Cranberry juice should be part of your natural treatment. But many of the types in supermarkets often have a lot of sugar in them. Read the label and make sure it's pure juice. Health food stores often have the juice and usually the darker color the juice the better quality of the cranberries for prevention of infections.

If you can't get quality juice, you can buy cranberry concentrate capsules. I used to tell patients to take those with buffered vitamin C and vitamin A and zinc.

Cystitis left untreated can turn into a kidney infection and that's something you want to avoid. If you need to take an antibiotic to clear up a bladder infection then take it, where as an antibiotic is crucial to take if you get a kidney infection.

If you are having a lot of urinary tract infections, you should consult with a urologist after your health care provider does a urinalysis and urine cultures.

Natural Treatments
These are both very good products. I used to get bladder infections frequently, but that stopped a long time ago since I used one of these products. There is:

ALSO:
* Avoid tight jeans and wear cotton panties.
* No "feminine hygiene" sprays.
* Drink lots of water. Try to consume at least eight eight-ounce glasses of water a day.
* Drink fluids before sexual intercourse and void (pee) soon afterwards to * keep bacteria away from your urethra.

* In addition to the UTI-Clear try cranberry juice concentrate capsules. Someone on the net must sell them.
